goodbye, Durango

So, anyone interested in a 2003 Dodge Durango? We're trying to sell ours, and kind of counted on getting rid of it in order to make ends meet. Marty tried shopping it around to some local car dealerships, but they were only offering about half of what we'd like to get for it.

See, we still owe quite a bit on it, so we're looking for about $12,500, but are willing to negotiate. I know it's a lot, but that's less than Blue Book, so it's a good deal on a great car. It's been good to us, and hasn't had any problems with it since we bought it a couple years ago. It seats five comfortably, and has plenty of storage space in the back--great for groceries or other Mommy duties. It's still in almost perfect condition, with air conditioning and a CD player, airbags, a locking system for carseats. Good car.

If you know anyone who's looking to get something that will last a LONG time, let us know. You can call me at 559-908-7044 or email at mamamoseley@hotmail.com.

A couple car buying tips: When trying to trade in a vehicle knowing you still owe on it, go car shopping at the end of the business day (if your loan is through a dealership, go to that dealership for the next car you'll get), ask for someone who hasn't made a sell all day because you'll definitely buy, go through the whole deal (the test drive, the small talk, etc), get all the way to the negoiations and say we want blue book for our trade in and they'll battle with you back and forth (give you all sort of bs as to why they can't give you what you want on the car) and it will be battle but the guy who hasn't made a sell all day will do anything. The biggest trick though is walk away if they aren't going to give you what you want on your trade in and let them know that that's the deal breaker for you. I want "____" for the car or we're done here because I have someone who will buy this car for this much and then we'll just take our business elsewhere (even if you don't). Like I said they'll battle but that poor kid at the end of the day who hasn't made a sell will beg his manager for the deal but to you he'll be cool as a cucumber and be all "I'll see what I can do, but I won't promise anything. We'll see." But in that office man, he'll be all, "I need this!" At least that's how Miguel and I have made out really well on the three cars we bought. Our car payments on two brand new cars is $400 (well, mine isn't as new anymore =P, but Miguel's is brand spanking new).
